EASTER

Yesterday the kids did a community Easter egg hunt at the middle school. It was divided into age groups so Ian could find eggs without getting trampled. Later that day we dyed our traditional 5 dozen eggs. Ian LOVED it this year and probably dyed 3 dozen all by himself. He just kept grabbing eggs and plopping them into the first cup he could grab. His hands are still a dark green.

Here's Gabe and one of his creations:

Notice anything different about Luke (besides his face paint from the Easter egg hunt)? Daron just put braces on him a few days ago!

Easter Morning - first the kids look for eggs:

Here they are with the whole stash (minus all the ones that suffered death by cracking while being dyed)
The next part of Easter morning is finding their Easter baskets. The Easter bunny leaves a riddle for each child and they have to read it and figure out where their basket has been hidden. These are not easy riddles and much to the kids' credit, they often figure them out before I do! Luke eventually found his in the recycle bin.
Every year our Easter breakfast is creamed eggs on English muffins - yum! We also have cut up fruit, smokies and homemade cinnamon rolls. This year I tried cinnamon rolls that have vanilla pudding in the dough. They were delicious! You couldn't actually taste the pudding, but they were so moist. They were probably the best recipe I've made and were huge rolls with lots of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
Gabe added to the Easter excitement by getting gum in his hair. We tried getting it out with peanut butter but that didn't work.

He even tried cutting it out by himself before he told us. He had very precise cuts right up to the scalp:)
We finally had to shave most of his hair off, but he still looks pretty cute.
We ended the day by going to a neighbor's house for Easter dinner. It was a great weekend and having conference on Easter made it even more special. The talks were so good and it was a very uplifting. I am so blessed to have such wonderful kids!
